Nightly Storms

Rain splatters my window pane
pushed on by this driving gale
a fierce black sky up above
lashing the house with its tail

howls heard from an angry wind
shaking all that`s in its path
bashing hard against this home
tonight we`re feeling God`s wrath

the land is lit by a flash
lightning streaks across the sky
thunder clashes from afar
heaven's vengeance from on high

trees are bent almost double
as this mighty storm rages on
leaving a trail of destruction
hoping by dawn the rain`s gone

my window pain now shudders
from the sheer force of the storm
I'll remain snuggled here inside
by the roaring fire so warm
