New Year`s Resolution!!

A new year....a new start

looking forward to it
standing tall before the world
this time, not going to quit

holding my head up high

know I can make the grade
now to take a steady stride
I`m not going to be afraid!

don`t try......I won`t get anywhere

have been through too much strife
a deep breath.......here I go!
I am now ready for life

What more is there to say......bring it on!!!

Winter`s Moon

Shorter days
means darker nights
winter`s moon
among the star`s lights

crisp and round
a large beacon
travelling the skies
in this frosty season

wondrous orb
bright winter`s sphere
shine down on earth
until dawn arrives here!

Old wrinkles

A withered face
wise with years
protected skin
hiding many tears

with sharp eye
piercing view
watching everything
including you !

Voices

The voices in my head
are getting more persistent
screaming loudly in my brain

if my cover my ears
they seem to get louder
wish there was peace again

throbbing through my body
these voices keeping talking
not sure what they say

the darkness makes it worse
suffocating my mind
just subsiding with a new day

my world is getting smaller
my brain is fit to burst
I`ve no idea what I should do

trapped in a lonely world
among voices in my head
with nowhere to turn too...

This is a poem I wrote as a gift for a fellow poet
I love writing poems for people to give to others, as they make wonderfully unique gifts.

Christmas

A season of celebration
and meeting up together
sharing gifts around the tree
creating memories forever

bright decorations all around
with mistletoes above the door
to catch a loved one unexpected
Christmas cheer and much more

it`s at this time we remember
all those who can not be here
raise a glass to their memory
let`s toast them with a cheer

this verse is sent to wish you well
let`s smile and raise the rafter
may your Christmas be merry
and full of love, joy and laughter

Christmas Dreams

Christmas is a time for happiness
and this stirs the ink to flow
joyously dancing across my paper
allowing my dreams to come alive,
for poetry helps me to release  my inner most joys

2018/2019

What a year it has been and goodness how quickly it has flown by too!
I have seen by poetry change throughout the month, from it`s style to it`s contents.

Growing in strength and confidence, trying out new markets, sites, competitions and tested the world with a printed out an anthology of my own. This proved to be quite successful, so now I really want to try more printed anthologies.

Excited for the future and can`t wait to try new projected.  Looking at different ways to introduce people to poetry in new and interesting ways.  Embroidery, more braille, glass, candles and maybe 3D too!

So as I start to say farewell to 2018 and look to an exciting 2019, I`m very grateful for all that I have achieved throughout this year.  More poems have been published and I have been invited to enter more poetry competitions.

I have started to set up my support group to work with people who are going through bereavement or have been through one through the art of poetry.  For poetry can open your mind and help you express your inner feelings and emotions in a way that releases tension and deep sorrow can be set free. Healing Words is becoming a reality.  We have a Facebook group which anyone is welcome to join.  Click on the link below to check the group out. Look forward to getting to know you all,

My blog has continued to grow, over 6,724 visits so far this year and over 64.200 visits since I set up this blog.  It`s incredible that this blog has been visited by people from all over the world too.  Thank you to each and everyone who has taken the time to visit and read my poems.

So as this year starts to close, I find myself looking back over the years I have been writing and what started me on this journey. I miss my husband very much but know that he is with me in everything I do and that includes my poetry.

I wish you all a peaceful and joyous new Year, I hope you year is full of opportunities, excitement, laughter and love. That you meet many new friends and support along your journey through life.... but above all be happy in all you do!

Thank you for the bottom of my heart for all your support and kindness throughout 2018

Christmas day

Waking up on Christmas Day morn to peace and quiet. After putting the turkey in to cook and the cats fed, it`s time to take a large frothy coffee and a good book in hand, curl up on the sofa and enjoy a moment before all hell is let lose.

This is heaven, enjoying a quiet house, while the kids are asleep in their beds, dreaming of their Christmas gifts and all the luxuries of the day.  The cat is snoozing close by and the silence is a wonderful gift to start this day well. It won`t large too lobe, so making the most of it all the same!

By mid morning, movement can be hears and then there`s excitement in the air, the anticipation of Santa`s visit. What will be under the Christmas Tree. Even the cats are aware of the change in the house.

Turkey smells good and the table is laid with sumptuous spread of wonder fit for a king!  best crockery and cutlery not to mention the crackers.... it`s going to be a fabulous feast.

Once the meal is finished and everything is cleared away, it`s time to open the presents!
There is an air of anticipation and excitement, what`s under all the colour wrappings?
Watching them opening their presents is such a wondrous experience.  Their expressions as the unwrap their gifts, trying to guess what each one is. Then their joyous squeals of pleasure as they find out it`s what they wanted.  Sheer satisfaction!!

Laughter and happy chatter follows as they enjoy their gifts. Working out how things work and browsing their books is a great to watch, as I know they are content with all they have received.

This Christmas day has been a wonderful day surrounded by my family.
I`m grateful for this day, feel happy that everyone has come together to celebrate this lovely time of the Festive Season.

I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas Day with family and friends.  May this season of good will continues into the new Year too.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas

This is my Christmas poem to my husband.
It sits on his grave with a holly wreath.
I enjoy Christmas but a bit of me will always
think of him.

Soulmate

Through all the memories we made
all the sad times and the triumphs too
it`s the little things I miss so much
since the angels came down for you

many adventures we shared together
some close to home, others faraway
all the fun and laughter we shared
since I set eyes on you that first day

you were such a special gentleman
that I was lucky enough to find
your bright smile and cheekiness
are missed now that I`m left behind

so as I stand here by your grave
on this crisp and wintry day
I lay this holly wreath and poem
to remember you the Christmas day

Christmas

It`s a funny old time, the planning, preparation and military precision so thing are done with!  In our household, Christmas day is run like clockwork.

I get up first and start the turkey cooking.  Large mug of latte and a good book at the ready, I curl up on the sofa and enjoy some "me time "   The kids get up when they`re ready and make their way down after opening a few little gifts found on the end f their bed.  Chill by the TV and then lay the table for lunch.  I get a little help with the vegetables and then lunch is weather.  We sit down to a full turkey roast with all the trimmings, a glass of wine and crackers. The meal is finished off with a sumptuous dessert.  Coffee is made for me and I retreat to the sofa, while the kids clear the table and do the washing up.

After all that is done, we gather in the lounge and the main presents are handed out and opened.  the room is full of laughter and fun as each gift is revealed and opened. I love this time of the day as I watch my kids faces while they open the Christmas gifts.

When all is opens and the debris is cleared up, it`s their time to do as they please.  Some go off to visit friends or their friends will pop over for a little while.  There a chaos for a while and that`s good too!

A few sandwiches are available later and then the day winds down and all goes quiet. A film maybe watches and general chatter is heard with bouts of laughter in between.

This is a perfect Christmas for me and I love it all.  I`m proud of my family and the kindness they show. It feel good to have a full and busy house for a day.

I wonder what you Christmas Day is like,  do you have certain traditions or do you just go with the flow.  Every household is different and that`s what makes the world go round lol!

Here`s wishing you all a wonderful, peaceful and enjoyable Christmas.

Cat amongst the crib

I don`t mean to be disrespectful
but this spot is very comfortable

snuggled among these little creatures
even though they`re Christmas features

I really hoped you wouldn't see me
after the problems with last year's tree

so I`m here to guard baby Jesus
until he is big enough to protect us !

The Festive Season !

Christmas Time, Mistletoe and Wine ....
At least that`s how the song goes.   In the movies, Christmas is depicted as a wonderful time, shopping all done, the tree is up and decorated.  Pets snoozing contentedly by a roaring fire while the children play nicely. Lights sparkling and snow is falling as friends call round with gifts to share !

In the real world, mothers are stressed with all the shopping, preparations and cooking.  Fathers bewildered while dealing with the tree, work`s party and in-laws.  Kid`s Christmas present lists are longer and more expensive and the cost of the festive season has gone through the roof!

It`s a shame that the real meaning of Christmas is no longer relevant ..... bringing families together and celebrating not only the birth of Jesus, but also love and understanding and the joy of families and all that`s good in the world.

As you come together with your family around the Christmas Tree, opening your presents after a deliciously fulfilling meal and watching a seasonal movie ..... please give a thought to the ones who haven`t eaten a meal and don`t have any family to share gifts with. Some may not even have a roof over the heads.   I`m not appealing to you to give donations, but as you enjoy your festive season, please think about these people and give thanks for all that you have been lucky enough to have in your lives !

So may your meal be amazing, the tree decorations look fabulous, each coloured light bulb work perfectly. Here`s to everyone loving their presents and your home be warm and cosy as your pets sleep contently while snow lays on the ground, glistening around, as laughter is heard in the distance bringing merriment to everyone.

Here`s to a wonderfully magical Christmas !
