Christening

Welcoming a new born child
snuggled in cotton and lace
little fingers and tiny toes
big eyes and a gurgling face

celebrating a special day
with gifts, good luck and joy
energy, luck and silver spoon
kindness, beauty and a little toy!

as everyone tucks into their cake
grandma gently places a letter
in baby`s crib, in it a written note
never be afraid, we`re here together!

for me that was the best gift I got
knowing I have my Grandmother
my her side, we`ll beat any evil
yet no one will guess we`re together

Apology and Forgiveness

I was always taught to forgive, though at times this was very hard. Apologising is also something that needs to be said as they are two sides of the same emotional coin. However, forgiveness shouldn`t be just the result of the apology, both are just as important.  Each side must mean what they are saying and not expect the other side to make the first move.  It`s a healing process and as such , a very important to both parties too.
If left unresolved, emotion fester like an open wound that is unable to heal. The wound goes mouldy and the infection spreads further from the made problem.  It`s a bit like a stone dropped into water and the circular ripples spread outwards to the edge of the water.
This festering gets worse and worse and manages to include others but word of mouth. People are influenced bu opinions and take on the same thoughts and more and more the infection spreads.
This needs to be stopped or it will never ever heal but hurt more and by that more people are hurt to the point, no one believes anyone or haven`t got a clue what exactly started it all.
So remember, apologising and receiving forgiveness helps to heal wounds, emotions, friends and families.
Don`t let it ruin you!!

Feuds

Apologies and forgiveness
are at the heart of everything
they help the healing process
and take away the painful sting

we should never let it fester
for then the infection will spread
hurting more that just ourselves
creating pain in heart and head

forgiveness and apologies
are needed, so we can move on
creating calm and harmony
to live happily with everyone

found in a darkened woodland

moonlight reflected on the ground

touching the ground under branches

with pools of yellow and white seen

patches and pools drifting down

creating delicate silhouettes

natures delicate beauty seen

bright shafts of orbital light

shafts of light and shadow

picked out all along the path

beside the path stands a tree stump

where the hoot of an owl can be heard

and a flash of their bright eyes

found in a darkened woodland

Caught in Moonlight

Across a darkened woodland
shafts of moonlight hit the ground
pools of light along the path
beauty seen without a sound

delicate details of leaves
picked out clearly against black
as hues of wonderous blues
eerily seen further down the track

Steve

Growing older on my own
and missing you much more
years have not diminished
the pain I feel without you
by my side....

they say time is a healer
but I`m yet to find that so!
you`ve left a great big whole
an empty chair at the table
now you`re gone...

no one to talk things through
when trouble comes a calling
or hold hands along the beach
under a kaleidoscope of bright
coloured sky!

Oh Steve, missing you so much
those lonely days can get me down
but knowing that I`ll see you again
keeps me going through my life
will see you soon!

Day 25

Prompt - poem based on aisling, a poetic form that developed in Ireland. Aisling recounts a dream or vision featuring a woman who represents the land or country on/in which the poet lives and who speaks to the poet about it.  Today`s challenge is to write a poem that recounts a dream or vision, and in which a woman appears who represents or reflects the area in which you live in.  Perhaps she will be the Madonna of Traffic Lights or the Mysterious Spirit of Bus Stops. Or maybe you will be addressed by the Lost Lady of the Stony Coves.

Whatever form your dream visitor takes enjoy this challenge.

Happy writing!

Bright shining orb in the night sky
smiling face looking down on me
she is full of beauty and love
speaking so soft and gently

I feel calmed and at peace
as she drift of her nightly way
knowing she is over me
til the dawn of a new day

I ask if she dances with the stars?
she laughs and replies, "Oh I do!"
the starts twinkled all around her
"could I dance with the stars too?"

we danced across the countryside
through fields and over a tall ridge
only stopping by the river`s edge
wishing farewell by the bridge

Day 24 -

Prompt write a poem which you describe something with a hard-boiled simile. Feel free to just use one or go for broke and cram in a hoard of similes til its as dense as bread baked by a plumber, as round as the eyes of a girl who wants you to think she`s never heard such language and as easy to miss a brass band in a cathedral.

Happy writing!

Market day

There`s a buzz in the air
excitement is everywhere
crafters lay our their stock
already at the starting block
fresh as a daisy, busy as a bee
how much will sale, we`ll see
from poetry, cards and art
each item, make from the heart
colourful, scented and pretty
authentic, uniquely witty
ten o`clock and doors open
now all is set in motion!

I really enjoyed talking with some wonderful children about poetry, an th9s was one of the poems we explored.

Santa came to Supper

Jolly Santa came to supper
in his bright red coat and hat
took off his boots to warm his feet
leaving melted snow on the mat

we all played games by the fire
as he told stories that made us laugh
then, when it was time for Santa to go
we stood around for a photograph!

 Tiger, Tiger !

each stripe is different, every coat, unique
awesome camouflage at nature`s boutique
moving through jungle in silent stealth mode
seeking his next meal as his bright eyes glowed
hardly visible to the naked eye
this tiger`s walking confident and sly
this majestic king so endangered there
it`s up to us to help save him, we must care
oh tiger tiger for this is your hour
a symbol of freedom such grace and power

Weston-Super-Mare Pier

Visiting on a warm spring morning
how wonderful to walk in the sun
along golden sands edged by sea
and the pier where we can have fun

I spy the beach from high on the pier
for a change the tide is in today
people paddling or make castles
what a wonderful place to play

spying the sea between the planks
while walking the length of the pier
boats, wildlife, or messages in the sand
always things to see throughout the year

ice-cream or a photo opportunity
entertainment or just a cup of coffee
giant`s deckchairs and penny slits
old or young, the pier is a must to see

Day 20 - prompt-

Today`s challenge is to write a poem that anthropomorphizes a kind of food. It could be a favourite food or one that conflicts feels.

Happy writing!

Asparagus look smart in the garden
tall soldiers of the vegetable patch
standing to attention in the sunshine
all wearing fancy hats that match

not long before they will be ready
to begin their final journey
as they`re off to the table in the sky
each one proud to serve their army

one by one they`re picked for the pot
for they don`t hide in in a dark corner
tall, tasty and full of goodness
asparagus solders full of honour

NaPoWriMo 2022

Day 19

prompt  -  challenged to write a poem starts with a command!  It could be "Lookout!",  "Don`t you dare!" or something comical!

Happy writing!

Pruning Time!

"Hey, lookout below!
that branch is about to go"
our bay tree was far too tall
so dad had taken up the call
trimming away at the branches
I fear he`s taking some changes
conscious of our sad plight
as it was blocking out the light
with a wooden ladder in place
be wore a determined face
slowly the tree began to look thinner
"think we`ll bet this done by dinner"
on we plodded through the hours
fingers crossed there`d be no showers
light could be seen through the tree
what a relief, we could all agree
there were branches  all around
piles and piles all over the ground
finally that was it, we`d finished
the bay tree was greatly diminished
"I`m not so sure that was good fun!"
but grateful to dad for all he`s done

Five Answers

quiet babbling brook
green mossy mound
chirping birds in the branches

dark warm hide away
torch to hand
chocolate and a book book

roaring log fire
frothed creamy hot chocolate
loyal dog lays beside me

secluded tree house
hidden away in the woods
somewhere to play music

set up in a mancave
Nintendo at the ready
time for a virtual battle

Hands

Hard steel and soft flesh connected together
hand in crafted hand as if linked forever

beautifully forged steel, clasped around your own
four fingers, one thumb, toughen skin and bone

a symbol of pure unity that is the key
this strong handshake is here for all to see

Day 17  - prompt

Happy e

Easter,  this is a fun one. Developed by comic Lynda Barry, and it asks you to think about dogs you have known, seen or heard about. Then use them as a springboard into wherever they take you to!

Happy writing!

Gem

There`s a little dog we know
a loving bundle of excitement
nudging your hand  for attention
though obedient along the pavement

for Gem is an active canine
who loves to run around and play
tire herself out and everyone else
then snuggled in bed at the end of the day

loves to accompany us on a journey
waging her tail as we travel afar
adores the breeze through the window
our Gem is certainly an amazing star

Mists are not always grey....wafting through the countryside...!

Purple Mist

Through this purple mist
six tall trees are seen
stood just within the field
creating an eerie scene

standing as if guarding
as this haze drifts on by
sways in and out of focus
no sun is seen up high

with branches fanning out
like sails on a boat
gives the feeling that these trees
not just standing - hey`re afloat!

so as the purple mist
drifts on past in the breeze
the field reveals is treasures
a row of tall dark trees.

Spring

Mother Nature awakes to brighten up each day
flora and fauna dresses in their best finery
dazzling colours erupting into splendour
trees heavy with scented pink blossom sway
distant buzz of happy bees throughout the scenery
imprinting our heart and mind to this sweet surrender

ponds teeming with tadpoles in the afternoon sun
as an elderly cat snoozes in a quiet sunny spot
while lemonade is found waiting in the shaded area
outside is the place to reside until the day is done
so enjoy the lot!
