This Golden Rose

This golden rose
that lays before me
velvety petals
looks so beautiful
its sweet aroma
filling the room

then see the dark side
such defensiveness
sharpness of thorns
on a slender stem
that would draw blood
such bitter sweetness

two sides of beauty
I see before me
coldness of thorns
sweetness of sight
this golden rose
natural beauty
